Display and Design

- Ad -

The first thing you will observe is the huge 6 inch full screen display. It it covers most of the front panel , has very minimal bezels meaning that the huge display fits in a compact body size. It is the first of its kind since HMD started making Nokia devices. The display is bright with natural colors and is slightly curved towards the edges due to the 2.5D glass.

Flip to the back and you are met by the cold touch of the aluminum rear, it is of top quality too, 6000 series to be exact; we are glad that HMD remains true to Nokia’s reputation of durable devices. Speaking of durability, Gorilla glass 3 is present to protect the 6 inch screen from everyday drops and scratches. Also, there is a beautiful combination of black and copper gold elements all around the device such as the camera ring, fingerprint and body frame.

Software and Performance

Switching on the device reveals the new Android 8.1 Oreo.  The interface simply flies while navigating the Nokia 7 Plus, this is thanks to the very able Snapdragon 660 CPU and the pure Android One experience without bloat-ware. An update to the just released Android P has been promised by HMD and will come straight from Google itself under the Android One program.

Camera

On the rear is a dual camera with a standard 12MP combined with a 13MP telephoto shooter for zooming up to 2 times. Both of them are built with the high quality Carl Zeiss lenses seen in the Nokia flagships of yore. The 12 MP has a huge f/1.75 aperture meaning that it should excel in low light photography. Initial photos are very promising with great saturation (greens are greener and reds are richer) zooming is also spot on with sharp details retained.

The selfie shooter is a huge 16MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The initial selfies are sharp with the same rich saturation found on the rear camera. The camera can also do portrait pictures that are currently trending.

Battery

The battery performance will require taking the device for a spin for several days, but with the 3800 mAh pack tucked inside the device, you should expect great endurance. The optimizations in the Android 8.1 Oreo plus the Snapdragon 660 will also ensure long battery life.
