UTU Technologies has joined ÆTERNITY Ventures as part of ÆTERNITY Starfleet Incubator to deliver its proprietary trust recommendations to decentralized applications including its flagship operation in Kenya, MARAMOJA transport.
The machine-learning algorithm optimized for trust, aims to disrupt the ubiquitous systems of anonymous star ratings and reviews that currently serve as internet users’ best means of discerning trustworthiness of service providers contracted through apps and digital platforms.
According to UTU CEO Jason Eisen, “Blockchain is an incredible avenue for UTU to deliver its value proposition around trust. It lets us tokenize the acquisition of users and data; create safe, private data refuges to let people securely store and govern access to their data; and create monetary incentives for people to endorse their favorite service providers and find trusted service providers within their networks. We also feel that ÆTERNITY is the perfect partner to help bring these services to market given their strong technology infrastructure, incredible team, and network.”
UTU’s model of trust is based around the real human experience of trust, built around relationships and augmented by contextual understanding of the world around us.
UTU and ÆTERNITY’s relationship grew out of a chance encounter at the World Blockchain Summit, hosted in Nairobi in May 2018. UTU was honored to be invited to join the first cohort of ÆTERNITY Ventures’ Starfleet Blockchain Incubator in Sofia, Bulgaria in early June.
UTU joined 17 other innovative blockchain startups, including two others from Africa, for what ÆTERNITY Ventures dubbed as Genesis week, an intense week of learning. UTU was further humbled to be included among the 10 companies from the cohort selected to continue working with ÆTERNITY Ventures. UTU will travel back to Sofia to present at the ÆTERNITY Ventures Starfleet Demo Day on July 14, to be attended by leaders from across the crypto world.
The Æternity Ventures team is also excited about working with UTU. Æternity Ventures CEO Nikola Stojanow noted, “UTU has tremendous potential to disrupt the entire trust model currently powering digital transactions. We think their service is particularly valuable in a blockchain context and we’re excited to see their progress on the upcoming Demo Day on the 14th of July.”
UTU Technologies is a pan-African AI and blockchain technology company with proprietary innovations in the fields of machine learning for trust and distributed, multi-agent systems. UTU is also the parent company of the MARAMOJA transport, serving Kenya with trusted e-hailing services since 2015, and the MARAMOJA family of mobility brands rapidly expanding around Africa.
