Ghana to construct Africa’s largest solar farm yet

Ghana has initiated ambitious plans to construct one of what would become the largest solar farms in Africa. The farm is set to be in operation by March 2019.

According to Salma Okonkwo CEO of UBI Group (Petroleum Company in Ghana and West Africa) the development of the project, christened ‘Blue Power Energy’, would produce 100MW of energy to support industrialization and development in the country.

Blue Power Energy’s goal is to feed the national grid (electricity transmission network) with electricity from 100% renewable energy, making cities more sustainable, eradicating poverty and hunger, combating climate change and improving health and education while protecting the world’s oceans and forest.
