Dropque, a video interview & AI recruitment startup wins Seedstars Lagos

Dropque, a video interview & AI recruitment startup was declared winner of Seedstars Lagos on 19th October 2018, during Nigeria’s round of Seedstars World and will represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland to compete for up to USD 1 million in equity investment.

Dropque, which uses a combination of one way unassisted video interviews and a powerful AI assessment assistant to get companies the best candidate, was selected the best startup in Nigeria for its innovative sustainable solution. As a part of the prize, Dropque will be participating at the Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2019.

Seedstars Summit is a weeklong training program which includes the opportunity to meet the other 65 winners from other fast growing economies, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. The final day of the Summit is dedicated to pitching in front of an audience of more than 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to USD 1 million in equity investment.

MyMedicines, with its curated medication ordering platform. It leverages 837 pharmacies and blockchain technology to crowdsource medicines., came second and Natterbase, which is  increasing the speed and quality of software development, grabbed the last spot in the top 3. The other startups invited to pitch were Aspire Power Solutions, Biyabot, BeatDrone, Bridgebooks, Chekkit Technologies, Insight Africa, NextCounsel and Termii.

The 11 startups pitched in front of a prestigious jury, including Obong Idiong, CEO, Africa Prudential Plc; Chike Asiodu, Managing Director, Text Nigeria; Ahmed Umar, COO, Wennovation Hub; Henry Okoede, Senior Manager, Innovation at MTN; and Mimshach Obioha, Director, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Ventures Platform.

Seedstars Lagos also featured speaker Vivian Nwakah, of Medsaf, who won the last edition of Seedstars World Lagos and represented the country at Switzerland. The event was organized with support from Cisco Systems, The Swiss Embassy and Happy Coffee Nigeria The event attracted interest from over 218 startups, and over 100  attendees.

Continuing on its world tour of startup scenes in emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, Seedstars World’s next stop is Abidjan at Seedspace Abidjan, to select the best startup in Côte d’Ivoire. Seedstars World is looking for smart startups that solve regional issues and/or develop profitable products for the global market.
