Sendy, a Nairobi-based logistics firm says it has been leading the disruption of the logistics industry in East Africa and the launch in Kampala, Uganda is just an extension of what it has been doing locally.
In response to TechMoran, a Sendy spokesperson said the company had successfully launched truck deliveries on the platform nearly three years ago and it’s continuing to innovate in the logistics sector, denying this reports that it has failed to beef up its heavy duty long distance trucking business.
“As of now, Sendy is enabling customers to do deliveries through the platform within Kenya and Uganda as well as across East Africa,” said the spokesperson. “Unlike stated here, Sendy has been focused on B2B customer for the motorbike deliveries for a long time, developing and providing solutions that enable all businesses to focus completely on their main business,” added the spokesperson.
Sendy works with companies such as Unilever, Highlands, Bidco, Hot Point, Chandaria, Safaricom, Masoko (a Safaricom e-tail arm), SkyGarden, Toyota and many more to power their last-mile deliveries. The firm is also signed up a number of local SMEs, ecommerce shops and corporate firms to its affordable and reliable deliveries.
Sendy has over a hundred employees in the Kenyan office, and it aims to continue to focus on providing reliable and efficient logistics for its customers in the region.
“All this is in line with our goal to help small and mid-sized companies grow,” said the spokesperson. “Sendy’s marketing efforts are focused on reaching out to those companies during industry fairs which we sponsor like AFMASS or special events like Invest in Africa.”
For ecommerce businesses, Sendy takes away the uncertainty of conventional delivery methods and makes the process simple, transparent and secure. The firm offers users one price for all their Nairobi deliveries minus zones or maximum distance. It ensures that all goods are insured against loss or damage while in transit and customers can track delivery time via their phones.
