Nabblr, a new social networking platform has launched to allow its users explore news, amazing deals on eats, treats, and events happening around them, showing the nearest ones first.
Founded by Kipkirui Tanui, a Kenyan developer, Nabblr aims to enable business owners such as bar and restaurant operators, event planners, retail shop operations among others to reach audiences near them and advertise their businesses to consumers and translate into real sales.

“I wanted to create a platform that not only translate your posts or adverts as an advertiser to sales but also give the consumer a chance to explore different options without walking into a restaurant, for example, to ask for a menu,” Tanui said.
Nabblr also has chat options for peer-to-peer and group chats. Users can also tag a stranger or friend to lunch or dinner from the friends’ section and choose the most nearby person that meets their preference.
Nabblr’s timelines are open and users don’t have to follow anyone to see their content. If you are in Nairobi, Kenya, for example, all the posts shared by Nairobians will be available to you — the most nearest to you first! Unless someone has blocked you exclusively from seeing their content.

Released in Release June 2019, Nabblr is free to use on the desktop browser or iOS or on Android.
This is not Tanui’s first work. Five years ago he launched his first startup, @derevabuddy to solve the traffic problem around Nairobi before his focus on Nabblr.

Unlike DereveBuddy, Tanui hopes to see Nabblr grow into a full-fledged company and help solve advertiser needs. DerevaBuddy.com was launched to use traffic data to help road users understand realtime road traffic easily. The web app gave users access to realtime traffic on city roads, alternative routes, and maps on the best performing roads instead of relying just on social media.

Unlike social media, DerevaBuddy used realtime, crowd-sourced information from various road users on all major roads and analyzes them per timestamp.
With crowdsourced data within the app from both logged in and non-logged users, 3rd party data from Ma3route, DerevaBuddy evaluated each entry, maps them on graphs and then generates percentages and colored donut charts. Regular contributors were to get incentives every time they submit traffic data.
