Whether you are a professional or amateur, choosing the right piece of broadcasting equipment is very important. These equipment are usually very expensive, so before you commit your money, ensure you do your research in order to find the piece that rightly meets your needs. If you are operating on a stringed budget, you can as well consider going for used equipment to cut the cost of buying a new.

Used broadcast equipment with high quality can be just as functional as the ones coming straight new from the market. Whether you are shopping in person or online, below are some tips to help you buy or sell second-hand broadcast equipment.

BUYING SECOND HAND BROADCAST EQUIPMENT

Always check the quality of the equipment you are buying

When buying equipment online, chances are that you will not be able to make a proper inspection before you place an order. However, it is important that, to some extent, you know the quality of the products you are about to buy. Look out for the following terms:

  • Ex-display: these are equipment that has only been used for display purposes and has never actually been used. But either way, it will still cost less than a new boxed model.
  • Refurbished equipment: these one has been previously used and then restored to factory settings or new condition.
  • A second-hand item: these could vary in quality because they have been used and then resold with varying degrees of wear and tear. This may range from one month to ten years of previous use.

Find a Seller You Can Trust

As much as you need to do proper research before picking your product, you also need to be sure about the reputation of the seller you will be choosing. Look out for sellers who have earned some credibility and reputation. Since you are buying online, check out their pages to see the reviews there. Buying from a person you don’t know or someone you are not sure if you can trust might save you some cash initially, but it could cost you more money in the future if the equipment became faulty, not as described, or stolen.

TIPS FOR SELLING SECOND-HAND BROADCAST EQUIPMENT ONLINE

When the table turns and you are the one selling your recently used broadcast equipment, you need to stay guided so you can get a good return on your investment. Many things can make you want to consider selling your gears, including an upgrade. In that case, below are some things to bear in mind for a good sale.

Research the market

The first thing to do id to research and know the current of your gears on the online market. Prices of the equipment might now be different from what it used to be when you got them, so try to avail yourself that information in order to make the best sales. Places like eBay, Amazon, Craigslist, and Facebook are good places to start your search.  Check the prices of the new equipment there and also check out used equipment on manufacturer’s sites.

When you know the market price for the new equipment and the used ones, you can tailor a price that is competitive yet ambitious.

Take great pictures of your equipment

Remember you are selling your used broadcast equipment online, so you need to do everything to make sure you represent them well. If you want to make them more appealing, put in the best light you can get and take great pictures. The truth is that one major thing that scares away viewers are sketchy photos and screenshot from manufacturer’s sites.

Show people that your gear is, in fact, real, in good condition, and available. So give in your best by taking great pictures of the equipment.

Give relevant details

Give as many details as you can about your gears. You may not need to write a novel on it. But simple bullets showing specific details will go a long way to help you sell your equipment fast and high. Even if they seem obvious, let people know some specific features on the gadgets to help them make a decision. Moreover, this will only take a minute fraction of your time.

Post around

If you intend to just post your equipment on one platform and sell, it’s fine. But if you want to sell sooner and at the best price you can get, consider sharing your post on several platforms as much as possible. There are many sites today that let you sell your used broadcast equipment online with a hassle. However, when choosing a site to sell your product, ensure you can trust such sites or platforms.
