Visa, has appointed Corine Mbiaketcha as Vice President and Country Manager for Visa in East Africa, effective 5 November, 2019.
Corine joins Visa from Oracle where she was the Country Leader, Kenya Hub and Managing Director for Technology and was fired under suspicious circumstances with allegations of fraud at the firm.
As VP and Country Manager for Visa in East Africa, Corine will be in charge of Visas growth in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Mauritius and Ethiopia which are key markets among her 13 East African countries portfolio.

According to Aida Diarra, Senior Vice President, Group Country Manager, Visa Sub Saharan Africa, “ Corine has worked with a broad range of stakeholders across various sectors including technology and the financial services industry as well as regulators and financial institutions.”
Corine is expected to help drive East Africa’s move away from cash into cashless transactions as well as drive engagement with non-traditional partners in fintech. She will be responsible for the overall strategy in the region, including building long-term relationships with clients, regulators and other key stakeholders to drive the adoption of cashless payments.
Prior to her leadership role at Oracle, Corine worked in various roles at Oracle over a 10-year period, where her responsibilities spanned sales and Go to Market strategy, leading to a regional Director role for Technology in 2005 and the Country Leader role from 2017.
