Recent developments in Nordic countries prove that the region can have a huge future with blockchain technology. Cryptocurrencies have definitely seen some development in the Nordic countries over the last few years. We have scenarios like Sweden, whereby implementing one, a centralized online cryptocurrency called e-krona, they intend to go fully cashless.

And there’s also this thing going on in Norway, Liberstad, a decentralized city-community that created its own personal crypto-currency named city coin, based on its own blockchain called city chain.

But there is still a lot of terrible PR of blockchain going on in the region, and especially in Norway. There were several incidents in the last few years that affected the development of the cryptocurrency in the region.

Armed robbery of crypto-millionaire

This story was very shocking for many, it happened back in 2019, in May. This Bitcoin millionaire, who is in his 40’s, was known to have $11.2 from his successful crypto-run. The thief has reportedly infiltrated the residential block of the victim and rang his house. He immediately threatened the man after the door was opened, ordering him to lie down or else he was going to shoot him. The man went straight away for an escape, jumping from his balcony on the second floor.

This case resulted in huge fairs among the crypto fans. Blockchain technology was affected by this incident and many media outlets talked about this case. The story has given a dose of fear to any crypto-millionaire dreamer along with their optimism and would serve as a warning and cautionary tale for anyone who wants to boast and glory for their Bitcoin earnings, which is what the target of this story is said to have done.

Bitcoin and online casinos

Norway is one of those countries where online casinos are illegal. There are only two businesses in the entire country officially allowed to provide gaming facilities to the people of Norway, they are Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto. They sell certain simple betting options such as lotteries, betting games, keno, and others like these.

The government owns and operates both of the companies. The rules are also determined by the government, they decide at what time of the day gamblers can play the games, and how much of a bet they can make.

Despite gambling being as common as it is all over the planet, countries that have rules and regulations like this make a business a bit more difficult for gambling companies. Since bitcoin offers a safer and more secure environment, some of the new online gambling companies that are usually referred to as nye casinoer locally, use this option to make sure that their players can have a safer environment.

Because of this, negative PR in the country is increasing every day. People are saying that Bitcoin is helping illegal gambling and use it as a way to make the currency seem more dangerous than useful.

This kind of PR can lead a lot of people to think that bitcoin is a dangerous currency, while, in reality, it offers users one of the most secure and safe conditions on the market.

Because of all these negative PR, the field in the region is getting less popular, resulting in a very bad situation for many crypto users around the world.

Blockchain technology and bitcoin

Blockchain is many times considered to be the future technology. There are many countries that are working very hard to popularize crypto and make its usage more popular. As the currency develops, more and more countries are coming to terms that the crypto has the opportunity to be the future of payments.

One of the greatest aspects of bitcoin is that it is very secure and safe, especially compared to other more traditional payment methods. In addition, transfers with crypto take less time than with traditional currencies and seem to be more trustworthy than others.
