Logistics firm Sendy has rolled out a home delivery solution dubbed “Sendy Go” for local traders within Nairobi to help them cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sendy will help needy families in by matching every order made through its app with a donation of the same
The platform gives shoppers access to a wide variety of household supplies from local traders. Sendy Go will run on Sendy’s extensive and reliable logistics network. Sendy has so far partnered with local markets and stores such as Kenyatta Market, City Market, Hardy Fresh. Including Sweetunda for groceries and household essentials, Goodlife Pharmacy for pharmaceuticals and personal care products, Galana Oil for cooking gas, and Sandstorm for protective face masks.
“Speaking during the announcement, Sendy Founder and CEO Mr. Meshack Alloys said that the firm was playing its part in line with the government’s directive that individuals keep personal interaction as minimal as possible. Through the donation that will be matched by every order made through the app, Mr. Alloys pointed out that the firm was seeking support to support 5,000 needy families across Nairobi.
“As a Kenyan company, we cannot sit back when some are grappling with disruption of their sources of income. Our goal is to continuously innovate in ways that are impactful to those around us,” he said.
Sendy Go donations will prioritize on families living in informal settlements using e-vouchers through a partnership with Sokowatch. Sokowatch is a retail e-commerce start-up that has mapped shops across these areas.
The app is available for Android and iOS users across Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Mombasa officially from April 30th, 2020.
