Gozem, a West African ride-hailing platform has integrated Moov payments in Benin to allow its customers to pay using Moov Money to safely top up their wallets and take trips without cash.
Gozem users in Benin can now enjoy the simplicity and security of Moov Money provided by Etisalat Benin. The platform connects passengers with various transport service providers of zems, tricycles, taxis.
“In addition to existing payment options offered in our app, Gozem users can now also benefit from the security and convenience of paying with Moov Money. We are proud to continually improve our service offering and work alongside Moov Benin to offer our customers more choice and convenience,” said Pierrick Houée, Country Manager GozemBenin.
Since its launch in Togo in November 2018 and in Benin in July 2019, the application has recorded more than 500,000 downloads on the Google Play Store. Gozem will soon offer its services throughout Central and West Africa. In Benin, Gozem launched in July 2019 and is now available in Calavi, Porto-Novo, Parakou, Abomey and Bohicon.
Armed with nearly $1m in funding, Gozem, founded a Singapore-based Swiss entrepreneur is backed by Reengine Ventures, and is focused on West & Central Africa and is set to launch in Gabon, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, and Mali, then later expand into Ghana, Nigeria, and Rwanda to make it Africa’s biggest transportation app.
The firm also plans to launch new verticals such as food and last-mile delivery, mobile banking to its platform to be Africa’s Grab or Go-Jek in Africa.
Recently, Gozem and MTN Benin announced a Zero-Rating partnership that allows MTN subscribers to use the Gozem app without consuming their internet data package.
The deal will see MTN Benin subscribers order motorcycle taxis, tricycles, and car taxis via Gozem’s Android & iOS applications without consuming their internet data package in a mutual deal that facilitates access to affordable transport for MTN Benin subscribers while reducing cost barriers for Gozem users.
Users will be able to easily recharge their wallet in the app through MTN Mobile Money, the mobile money service of the telco company. And Gozem drivers’ earnings will be paid to them via the MTN Mobile Money platform.
