Facebook adds button to bulk-remove apps from your account

Facebook is introducing a tool to help users batch delete old posts and shrink their digital footprint on the social network. The new feature will be called manage activity and will roll-out in the next few days.

Until now, users have had to navigate their way into Facebook’s privacy settings to remove third-party apps so that they no longer had access to personal data. The process had to be repeated for every third-party app being removed which has always been a time-consuming process.

Facebook’s new bulk app-removal tool makes it much easier for users to review which apps they want to stop sharing data with.

We’ve redesigned our entire settings menu on mobile devices from top to bottom to make things easier to find. Instead of having settings spread across nearly 20 different screens, they’re now accessible from a single place. We’ve also cleaned up outdated settings so it’s clear what information can and can’t be shared with apps”

Users who would like to batch-delete or archive old content will now search their Facebook posts using filters for dates, people tagged, and content type to delete.

To find the tool on the Facebook Android or iOS app,  click on the ‘Settings and Privacy’ menu where you select Account Settings then head lower to find ‘Apps’ button. Select the ‘Logged in with Facebook’ option. This opens the bulk app removal tool where users can simply go ahead and select the apps to be removed.

Additionally, Facebook has information about security, privacy and ads much easier to find. The new Privacy Shortcuts is a menu where you can control your data in just a few taps, with clearer explanations of how our controls work. The experience is now clearer, more visual, and easy-to-find than before.

“We’re also making it easier to download the data you’ve shared with Facebook – it’s your data, after all. You can download a secure copy and even move it to another service. This includes photos you’ve uploaded, contacts you’ve added to your account, posts on your timeline, and more.” added Facebook
