Huawei set to launch EMUI 11 in Q3 of 2020

The President of Huawei Consumer Business Software, Wang Chenglu has confirmed that EMUI 11 will be released in the third quarter of 2020. He also added that this upcoming version of EMUI will be based on the distributed technology introduced in EMUI 10 and will further enhance application performance and improve user experience.

The company says that new features on EMUI 11 as well as compatible models will be announced later.

EMUI 11 is based on open source Android 11 and likely to come with new smart home features, improved privacy, and user data security. Wang also talked about the revolution in the EMUI mobile operating system and its advancement in the past years from version 5.0 to the recent EMUI 10 as it marks the eighth anniversary since it was first released.

The  EMUI 11 Beta testing will be open for the Huawei P40 series and the Huawei Mate 40 Series which will be the first set of devices that will launch pre-installed with this new operating system.

Alongside the release, Huawei is also rumoured to unveil HongMengOS at the same period.

Network leaker Teme took to Twitter to announce the HongMengOS 2.0 release, “EMUI 11 is coming this fall with HongMengOS 2.0 to connect your digital world, No matter if it is a Smart screen tv, PC screen, Gaming laptop, watch or new Mate series Phone. EMUI11+ HMOS + 5G.”

The official didn’t confirm an exact date of this launch but similar to the last year, Huawei is likely to unveil the EMUI at Huawei Developer Conference 2020 (HDC 20) Consumer event in August.

Huawei will also further develop the “Distributed Technology” on the EMUI 11 which is likely to connect Huawei watches, tablets, notebooks, TVs, and other devices with different screens.
