Ugandan entrepreneur to join 2020 cohort of prestigious Pursuit Incubator Programme

Ugandan entrepreneur, Muhammed Dimma, has been selected to join the 2020 cohort of the prestigious Pursuit Incubator Programme.

Emily Allen, the Director of Programs for the Pursuit Incubator Program, said Dimma stood out from other applicants mainly due to his passion for assisting the youth with his innovations. “His enthusiasm and passion are contagious. He has the determination that an entrepreneur needs to be successful.”

Dimma founded social enterprise, Mawejja Creations, in 2014. The company uses banana fibers to create affordable and unique products.

The company aims to generate employment opportunities for youth and women, as well as create products that benefit both the society and the environment.

Dimma is also the co-founder of Eco Crafts UG, which supports local artisans in Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

His efforts have been recognized widely by many programmes including; the African Presidential Leadership Programme, the Readers to Leaders Programme, and various others. He was also nominated for the 2019 Visionary Leader Award.

Pursuit Incubator Programme was established by Because International to help entrepreneurs grow their business.

The programme will run virtually for 10 weeks. Selected participants will be allocated a mentor/coach, who will be chosen based on their product design experience, acumen along with their tenacity to help develop other entrepreneurs.
