OPPO’s F series is the one that gathers most attention in Africa, the A-Series has been slowly climbing the ranks. Usually, OPPO A phones are in the affordable section of the market therefore their specifications are decent to ensure a good experience without breaking the bank.
However, the OPPO A93 seems to aim higher, its specs sheet packs quite a punch, in fact, it is very similar to the F17 pro launched in other markets. Here’s a quick rundown of the specifications.

Design and Display
OPPO A93 has a slim sleek design. At only 7.48mm thin, it is impressive that OPPO has managed to accommodate a 4000 mAh battery. The back is made of plastic, which is unexpected at this price point but at least it’s in a matte color which helps hide fingerprints. The back has the OPPO branding and the quad-camera setup which rests on a slight bump on the upper left side. That means the device will wobble a bit when it lays on a flat surface, fortunately, a phone cover solves that issue.
Other visible elements include a sim tray that houses two SIMs plus an SD card expansion slot, there’s also USB Type C, a single loudspeaker at the bottom, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Lastly, OPPO A93 is available in black, white, or blue.
In terms of the display, many midrange devices nowadays have to either go for super smooth transitions with normal color reproduction or super vibrant colors with normal transitions, OPPO went for the latter. It packs a Super AMOLED display with the normal 60Hz refresh rate. The resolution is Full HD+ spread out across 6.43 inches. Colors really pop and spring to life while keeping blacks truly dark. You will love watching videos and Instagram on the A93.
Cameras
The phone comes with a quad-camera setup on the back — 48MP main Samsung GM1ST + 8MP wide-angle + 2MP depth + 2MP mono. It comes with a list of AI Portrait features, which include AI Super Night Portrait for low light photography, AI Night Flare Portrait for low light photos with long exposure background, and sharp focused foreground subjects, AI Super Clear Portrait, Dual Lens Bokeh, and AI Beautification 2.0. All these features are for shooting portraits, the AI Color Portrait feature will be a fan favorite, it gives portraits a unique splash of color while fading out the background with a stylistic frame. The camera also supports shooting 108MP through software, you’ll need to switch to expert mode in order to shoot in this super high resolution.
In terms of image quality, the main camera actually shoots nice photos, while the ultra-wide camera has a softer detail and warmer white balance. Overall, it shoots good photos and its night mode also performs well.
Hardware and Software Performance
OPPO A93 comes with the new Mediatek Helio P95. This CPU performs smoothly without a hitch especially combined with the AI performance features backed into Color OS 7. This chipset doesn’t hit the same level of performance benchmark scores as the Helio G90T found in the similarly priced Infinix Zero 8 and the Realme 6, but OPPO had a trick to level out the playing field: a generous amount of RAM. It’s generous indeed, you get 8GB RAM as the only option and a huge 128GB internal which is further expandable via micro SD card.
With such RAM at your disposal combined with fast storage speeds due to UFS 2.1 storage, the phone handles everything you do without stuttering at all.
This performance is further enhanced by AI-backed into the Color OS 7 that intelligently allocates more resources to apps that need them, they call it the Anti-Lag algorithm. It even learns your usage patterns and optimizes the performance in anticipation of your routines to best fit your unique lifestyle.
