Uber Eats Launches in Mombasa

Uber Eats has today launched in Mombasa, two years after launching in the country.

Mombasa is Kenya’s second-largest city and is most popular for its many different scenic attractions, exquisite beaches, tropical weather all year round, and a vibrant mix of cultures and traditions which has birthed some of the most ground-breaking local coastal cuisine favourites that are loved by so many.

Local favourites that will be available include nyama choma, seafood and Muhogo.

“Launching in Mombasa has always been on our radar and we are delighted to finally see it become a reality. Making eating well effortless, every day for everyone is a top priority of ours. We also understand that many Kenyan’s have been hit hard by Covid-19 and providing a means for them to generate an income as they navigate through this new normal is of the utmost importance,” says Nadeem Anjarwalla, General Manager for Uber Eats Kenya.

Due to COVID-19, Uber Eats is introducing safety features to ensure safe delivery. One of which is, contactless delivery, allowing eaters to request that their deliveries be left on their doorsteps. In addition, an in-app safety checklist for couriers which will require couriers to confirm that they’ve taken additional safety measures such as sanitising their delivery bag, adhering to social distancing measures and following no-contact delivery instructions when dropping off an order. Uber Eats has also introduced a mask verification feature which will require them to take a selfie before they go online.

  • Select a restaurant or store, and choose what you want to order
