How To Measure How Much You Walk On Your iPhone

If one of your resolutions this year is to keep fit, then your iPhone might help.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services you need at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity (such as brisk walking or swimming) a week. So 10,000 steps a day can be a great goal and starting place to consider yourself fairly active.

If this is something you would like to get started on, your iPhone has a sophisticated built-in step counter. It uses the accelerometer to calculate the steps you take. All this data is stored in the Health app, which you can back up and sync to iCloud, as well.

To view your step count of the day, open the Health app. You can swipe down on the Home screen to bring up Spotlight Search, and then search for it if you can’t find it on your phone.

If you are looking to take your daily or weekly walking a step further, you can add your health and fitness information on your widget section to make it easier to access. Here’s how to add this information.
