If you haven’t heard about this challenge then you’re like me a few days ago, someone told me I live in a cave but my curiosity got the best of me. Women on TikTok are being warned to think twice about participating in the app’s sexy Silhouette Challenge thanks to a crop of creepy men who are going to great lengths to edit the videos and unearth the nearly-nude shots hidden underneath.
The Silhouette Challenge has emerged as a way for women to embrace their sexuality without showing too much, by striking sexy poses — often in swimsuit or underwear — and then applying a shady red light filter that mostly hides their bodies but highlights their silhouettes.
Is it difficult to remove the silhouettes?
several social media users are warning women that it’s not too difficult for men to violate them by removing the filter — and in fact, several YouTube videos have even popped up with step-by-step instructions explaining how to do it. The videos have garnered over 231 million views on TikTok so far.
Another lady on social media had a harsh opinion to express.
‘Men are currently removing the vin rouge red filter from the silhouette challenge,’ she wrote. ‘This is readily happening across social media with little community violation response by Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or TikTok.
‘When reminded that this is gross, creepy, and non-consenting, men respond that women are always finding ways to make themselves victims and they shouldn’t have been naked on the internet,’ she went on.
‘Yes, the same men going through extraordinary lengths to be creepy are finger wagging women about what they shouldn’t put on the internet. Because of all of the things men lack — including ethics and boundaries — they’re never short on audacity.
