How to Add Expiration Date to Gmail Emails

It is possible and only takes a few minutes to set an expiry date for e-mails. Google offers a confidential mode in Gmail that allows you to add an expiry date. If you add an expiry date to an email, the recipient will not be able to access its contents after the specified date. This article will share a detailed guide on how to send emails with an expiry date. Let’s check it out.

  • Login your Gmail account from your web browser.
  • To compose an email, click the ‘Compose’ button.
  • Enter the recipient’s email address, subject matter, and contents of the email in the Email Composition Window.
  • You need to click on the lock button at the bottom, which has a clock in front of it.
  • This will enable the ‘Confidential Mode’ mode. In the “Set Expiration” section, click the down arrow to display a list of different expiry times.
  • The expiration time ranges from one day to five years. Select the desired expiry time by clicking on it.
  • In the Require Passcode field, select the ‘No SMS Passcode’ option and then click the ‘Save’ button.
  • If you want to remove access to the email before the expiration date is set, click “Send” in the left pane, then select the expiration date message from the email list.
  • Once done, just click Save. Then you can send an email.
