Gebeya Launches Gebeya Talent App to Transform African Talent Acquisition

Gebeya has launched Gebeya Talent, a Pan-African online talent marketplace for freelancers across the continent and around the globe.

The talent marketplace aims to help connect African talent to freelance work by automatically matching them with work opportunities in seconds, other peers in their sectors, provide mentorship and free upskilling for its users. Users can also use the app to showcase their best work via a custom portfolio and profile or meet other professionals through networking, events among others.

“We strive to be THE most-referenced freelance African Talent company. Having fast, reliable, seamless digital tools at the heart of our marketplace is a MUST,” said Amadou Daffe, CEO and Co-founder of Gebeya. “Currently, the process for talents wanting to join our marketplace takes anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks. “Our objective is that, with the Gebeya Talent app, we will be able to onboard a talent within 24 hours after they submit their application.”

Due to COVID-19, the year 2020 was abuzz with phrases like “future of work,” “gig economy,” and “remote work”,  Gebeya Talent aims to usher African freelancers to the predicted future of the job market by helping them access to opportunities anywhere in the world, any time of the day or night.

The platform leverages artificial intelligence and automation from application to testing, from interview to onboarding, and is open to talented professionals in Africa and in the diaspora.

To avoid underbidding, missed payments, or ghosted clients, the platform manages the entire process of matching, plus administrative and finance processes, so that freelancers focus on their work.

Gebeya is targeting to vet and sign up top 100,00 talent across Africa and carefully onboard the top 20,000 best to work for both local and international clients. the firm is also launching a web platform to connect individual entrepreneurs, startups, and large enterprises to top talent in a few weeks.

“This is only the beginning,” said Thierno Niang, Chief Platform Officer at Gebeya. “We launched a mobile app before a web application because all of our talent have access to a phone. As we add features to the product, we will also expand to include a web app. Our goal is that clients will be matched with talent within seconds, and within 24-to-48 hours of contract-signing, begin the work.”

Software development, graphics and design, project management, digital marketing, product management, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence are some of the most popular tasks on the platform. Andela is in the same market as well.
