How to Add, Remove and Modify Fonts in Windows 10

Windows 10 ships with many fonts installed automatically, but if you’re in graphic design, you might want to install more. Do you want to install new fonts or remove unwanted fonts? Here’s how to change font settings along with the quickest way.

How to add a font to Windows 10:

  • Go to the repository of fonts, such as DaFont or Google Fonts, and download the font of your choice. The TrueType Font (TTF) or the OpenType Font (OTF)
  • Launch the ZIP font file and double-click the font file. A few fonts have multiple files for Italic, Bold, Underline and different heading sizes.
  • Once you’ve opened, click the Install button at the top (next to Print) to install your new font.
  • Your new font has now been installed.

  • Choose the font file that you want to remove and tap the “Delete” button in the toolbar.
  • Windows will pop up a confirmation window to ask you if you’re sure of that. Click the “Yes” button.
  • The font is deleted.
  • Before you delete the font, make sure you want to remove it. Once this is removed, the font file doesn’t go to the recycle bin—it disappears forever.
