Instagram Releases Remix Feature on Reels

Instagram has rolled out a new feature called Remix on its short video Reels which will enable a user to upload a Reels video next to an original video from another user.

According to the company, whether you are capturing your reaction, responding to friends or bringing your own magic to trends, Remix is another way to collab on Instagram.

The feature is similar to the Duet feature on Tik Tok as it also allows a user to react to an existing video or content and add their reaction to it and even be creative to it.

To use this feature, you will tap on the three- dot menu on a Reel and then select the new Remix this Reel option.

From there the screen will then split into the original reel and the new reel and thus a user can begin to record side by side with original reel.

At this point a user can therefore adjust other aspects of the reel for instance the volume of the original video or audio and can optionally add a voiceover.

After editing, the video or clip will be ready for publishing.

Remix feature will be present on newly updated reels. For one to use the old reel, they will be required to reload or enable the feature manually by opening the reel then, tap on the three dots and choose Enable Remixing.

If a user does not want their reel to be used by another individual, they can therefore go to the setting and tap on reels to disable the function.

Remix will appear side by side with the original reel a user has created on the reels tab on the Instagram profile and a user will be able to see who has remixed their content through Instagram Activity tab.

Instagram new Remix feature was released on March 31 and the company says it will be available on all new reels published from a public account.

The platform recommends creators to apply creative tools such as text filters or camera effect and use vertical video instead of horizontal which are not easy to recreate. It also recommends creators to use music available on Instagram music library and or original audio that they create or get on Reels.
