Vivo is a smartphone that has taken the Kenyan market and the world at large by a storm, especially with its several mid-range phones, including the X51 pro. The Model Vivo X51 Pro’s significant success is found in its photo module, which comes with a very innovative gimbal system that allows better stabilization of the images.
A few months later(Mar 25, 2021), the Vivo X60 Pro was launched for the first time in India but formalized initially in China. In this article, we invite you to discover the first impressions of this smartphone’s video and photo prowess.
IMPROVED CAMERA STABILISATION
As a reminder, a “gimbal” is a term we use to refer to a camera stabilization system when it comes to many mobile phones. It is commonly used a lot in the world of videography. However, thanks to a motorized pole, it is now possible to film in a stable manner using your smartphone.

Vivo’s challenge in taking up is to have succeeded in creating a miniaturised gimbal system to fit in the photo module of a smartphone. For this, the manufacturer gyroscopes and magnetic fields allow stabilisation during the user’s movements. The power supplied to this Gimbal is made to occupy less amount space as possible.
Compared to the first Generation of the gimbal system. Vivo X60 pro promises better results when working with the “gimbal 2.0”.
This stabilises the camera on four axes optically: “rotation Y, rotation X horizontal Y and horizontal X” and uses the accelerometer. Logically, you can add stabilisation around the Z-axis by activation a mode when necessary.
TOP NIGHT MODE
The Vivo X60 Pro is equipped with a quadruple photo module on its back:
- 13-megapixel x2 zoom;
- 48-megapixel main sensor;
- 8-megapixel x5 zoom.
- 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle;
In classic photos, the Vivo X60 Pro shows an appetite for good colour saturation, making the images beautiful to look at. The primary 48-megapixel sensor takes advantage of a lens opening at f / 1.48, .therefore portraying quality images for night photos.
GOOD STABILISATION OR GOOD STABILISATION?
The Gimbal provides stabilisation that mainly works well with videos recorded or taken with the Vivo X60 Pro.
A LIGHT AND ELEGANT DESIGN
Beyond the video and photo part, it is good to define that the Vivo X60 Pro has a beautiful design. Beyond its curved screen and pierced in the middle of the front, the phone seduces with a flat back with a pleasant touch.
In addition to the device measures 158.57 x 73.24 x 7.59 millimetres while weighing 178 grams. Unfortunately, the Vivo x60 Pro is only entitled to an IP51 certification which ensures resistance to water condensation but not complete waterproofing.
Note also that at the top left, the rear photo module is housed vertically. The Zeiss logo branded on it remains pretty modest, while the block protrudes in assistance.

WIDGETS
The Chinese interface of the Vivo X60 Pro is well portrayed. The user experience of this model is powered by the OriginOS based on android 11 instead of the untouched. I will not dwell here on the many features offered by OriginOS (side menu for shortcuts, control center, customization of animations, Jovi assistant, etc.). However, the interface offers a button to switch between two very different presentations of the home screen.
The first is similar to what we know about FuntouchOS and Android. The second shows how Chinese users – and more generally Asian – have very different habits from Europeans.
OriginOS is indeed putting the package on widgets. They’re everywhere, in all sizes, for app shortcuts or a slew of apps. When writing this article, many people enjoyed this experience because it stands out and is rather aesthetic on top of that. However, lacks Google Play Store, and therefore we must get used to Vivo’s V-Appstore.
