Kenya’s Tibu Health has secured an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round to help it scale its operations.

Kenyan e-health startup, Tibu Health has raised a seed funding round from Blue Haven Initiative and Kepple Africa Ventures that will enable it expand its services in Kenya.

Tibu Health is extremely happy to work with such sophisticated investors and partners as they both have a track record of providing tangible, non-monetary support to budding companies.

Founded by Jason Carmichael, Peter Gicharu and Hanane Akrim and launched to the public in early 2020, Tibu Health is an online platform that links people to professional healthcare workers in real time and at a pocket friendly cost. Tibu Health deploys to a location and time of the patient’s choosing.

So far the startup has served more than 10,000 patients, rolled out an inclusive home-based vaccination service alongside Amref Health Africa, launched health packages focused on chronic diseases, and also secured a variety of key partnerships.

With the fresh funding, Tibu Health is looking forward to venture into tech-driven home-based sample collection market, establish in-house lab capabilities, service expansion into home-based imaging as well as marketing and business development. In addition to this, Tibu Plans a Series A round in September 2022.

The proceeds from the funding round will also be used to source great local software engineering talent so that Tibu Health can build a globally competitive back-end that focuses on health service logistics as well as a front-end platform that will allow for a more streamlined user experience when scheduling Tibu Health’s many services.

Tibu plans on setting up a high-tech micro-laboratory that will process clients’ samples in-house. For growth purposes, Tibu Health focuses on building its internal capabilities around logistics and sample collection that is quite important for growth. Basically, Tibu Health has been laying the groundwork for replicability and scale across markets.

The pandemic has indeed stretched healthcare systems even in the wealthiest nations and that’s why Tibu Health is focusing  on reaching out to more Kenyans and provide  healthcare services at the convenience of their homes.
