iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be thicker than their iPhone 12 predecessors. You can see this from the schematic drawings. The main reason is improved cameras.

Compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 13 has grown in terms of camera dimensions. The iPhone 13 series expected for autumn 2021 will be thicker than its predecessor models. The camera modules are larger.

Much is already known about the iPhone 13 – now leaked schematic drawings available to the US magazine MacRumors, revealing further details.

Accordingly, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be 7.57 millimeters thick. Compared to the iPhone 12, the thickness of which Apple specifies as 7.4 millimeters, the innovations are 0.17 millimeters wider. The difference should hardly be noticeable in everyday life.

The question of the weight of the iPhone 13 becomes more interesting. Extensive modifications to the iPhone camera suggest that the weight could also increase slightly. However, the schematic drawings do not provide any specific information.

The Photo module ever-increasing size

You will notice the most significant difference between iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 on the back, near the camera hump. On the one hand, this should be significantly thicker.

On the other hand, Apple is aiming for a more rectangular appearance. While the unit on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro is slightly asymmetrical at 28 x 30 millimeters, it should be exactly 29 x 29 millimeters on the iPhone 13.

With the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the camera hump should grow significantly and be 36 x 37 millimeters in size. Apple needs the space to implement a feature known as SLR cameras.
