If you do a few things first, making international calls from Kenya can be both expensive and relatively affordable. Although Safaricom does not have the lowest international calling rates, it does provide some voice packages that users can use to reduce the cost of international calls.
How to purchase international voice bundles on the Safaricom network
Dial *100# or *200# on your phone, then press call.
Then choose Products & Services and send.
Pick International Calling Bundles from the drop-down menu.
You can then choose from the following options:
- 6 Minutes at Ksh 19 valid for 24hrs
- 40 Minutes at Ksh 99 valid for 7days
- 170 minutes at Kshs 399 valid for 30days
How to check the remaining voice bundle for international calls
Users can obtain information by dialing *100# or *200#.
Alternatively, simply text the word “Balance” to 144.
The voice packages must be used during the specified expiration time and cannot be reactivated. If a new bundle is purchased before the previous one expires, the previous one is reactivated and rolled over for another period.
