Nigerian health-tech startup CribMD secures a US $2.6 m seed round for expansion.

Nigerian healthtech startup CribMD which describes itself as “Uber for doctors “has raised a US $2.6 million seed round as it aims on expanding upon its initial traction. The funding comes from US accelerator Sputnik ATX and The Guardian Nigerian.

Founded in June 2020,CribMD connects users with doctors for house calls and telemedicine services via its on-demand platform allowing them to schedule appointments from the comfort and safety of their home, on their own schedule.

CribMD is revolutionizing each and every step of the care process, from affordability, patient-provider matching, to billing and to health record management .Through the touch of an app or a click on the CribMD site, an affordable, highly-vetted, qualified medical doctor arrives at the patient’s door, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The CribMD expertise brings preventive, primary and urgent care to a patient’s doorstep. The startup empowers its medical team to build strong relationships through unhurried visits, comprehensive care and immersion in the patient’s home environment.

CribMD raised a US$250,000 pre-seed round last year and has currently added to that with US$2.6 million seed funding round that will be used to build its team and further expand its network of partners in order to scale more quickly.

So far CribMD has 2,800 subscribers and another 50,000 on its waitlist. The CribMD platform has over 5,000 doctors and monthly recurring revenues of US$75,000.With the funding received, CribMD plans on expanding to other parts of Africa within the next two years.

Before the launch of CribMD, people in Nigeria queued up at clinics and hospitals waiting all day to get care. In most cases, the patients ended up not being attended to due to hospital or clinic capacity issues. CribMD is changing this by providing home care services for patients.
