Ethiopian logistics startup Eshi Express has raised a funding round for expansion.

Ethiopian logistics startup Eshi Express has raised funding from the Addis Ababa Angels (AAA) Network as it looks to expand across the country.

Launched in 2017, Eshi Express is a delivery startup operating in Addis Ababa and other two regional Ethiopian cities. The startup allows consumers to arrange deliveries via app or call centre and track their orders in real time.

With the funds secured from AAA Network, Eshi plans to scale up its business and expand to multiple regional cities soon.

“At Eshi Express our core belief is companies with a great mission will bring positive and lasting change to society. And we’re excited to partner with Addis Ababa Angel Investors as it will enable us to make a strong impact and expand our reach, said Haben Gebre, Eshi Express’s co-founder and chief operations officer (COO).

Established by a group of financial investors in 2020, the Addis Ababa Angels Network believes Eshi can revolutionize the last mile delivery in Ethiopia.

Yosef Kibur, co-founder of AAA speaking on the funding said that the venture firm believes that Eshi has met AAA’s standards for investment.

“Eshi Express met AAA’s standards for investment as it is a tech-enabled and scalable business with a great team that is coming out just as the country is experiencing a digital revolution of sorts. They have a unique opportunity to be part of this revolution,” said Yosef Kibur, co-founder of AAA.

Companies are highly dependent on logistics to reach out customers, but it costs a lot and it becomes very complex to manage (buying vehicle, human resource, running cost etc.…).Eshi aims at facilitating the success of companies by managing the delivery with cost effective and professional service so that they can focus on their core area.
