Samsung Galaxy S22: The standstill is over

After a year of extensive standstill, Samsung is planning a significant camera jump on the Galaxy S22 again. The resolution of the primary camera should increase considerably, according to the claim of an insider. Samsung has already presented a suitable sensor.

After Samsung acted rather conservatively on the Galaxy S21 and implemented hardly any improvements to the camera compared to its predecessors, there could be a noticeable upgrade again with the Galaxy S22. SamMobile reports on this, citing an insider on Twitter.

Samsung Galaxy S22 could get a new camera sensor with 50 MP

With a stately 50 MP, the sensor should resolve in the primary camera. Compared to the Galaxy S20, that would be a significant plus. Samsung’s current smartphone flagship is already over after 12 MP. Of course. A higher resolution is not synonymous with better photos. Other factors play a role. To enable higher-quality images, Samsung has to turn many screws on the Galaxy S22. This also includes the ultra-wide angle and telephoto lens, which should offer a resolution of 12 MP. At least on paper, there are no improvements here compared to the lenses in the S21.

With which camera features the Galaxy S22 wants to go beyond the resolution on customer catch is not yet known. It is also still unclear whether Samsung relies on its ISOCELL sensor or an IMX sensor from Sony.

this video explains why smartphone cameras have become so good:

The matching camera sensor has already presented to Samsung

Although the insider points out that his information should be “enjoyed with caution”, – which is an indication that the final camera specifications are probably not yet set in stone, however, the improvements mentioned are apparent, after all, Samsung only presented a new 50 MP sensor in the spring, which would also fit perfectly into a smartphone flagship from its other functions – such as 4K video recording at 120 fps.
