Facebook Is Rolling Soundmojis Or Emojis With Sound Effects For iOS Users

Facebook is rolling soundmojis or emojis with sound effects for iOS users.

The pandemic-induced social distancing has given way to messaging apps rolling out new features for better interaction. Be it the increased number of participants in video calls for various platforms, the screen sharing ability of users, and interactive tools for chatting.

Facebook Messenger is upping its game where emojis are concerned. The messaging platform is now rolling out Soundmojis, or emojis that will have sound effects to enhance communication among people. Facebook has described soundmojis as “emojis that could talk” and calls soundmojis the next-level emoji that lets you send short sound clips in a Messenger chat.

How it works.

These sounds can range from clapping, crickets, drumroll, and evil laughter, to audio clips from your favorite artists like Rebecca Black and your favorite TV shows and movies like Universal Pictures’ F9, NBC and Universal Television’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Netflix and Shondaland’s Bridgerton.

“We’re launching an entire Soundmoji library for you to choose from, which we’ll update regularly with new sound effects and famous sound bites. Each sound is represented by an emoji, keeping the visual emojis we all love in play while bringing sound into the mix,” notes Facebook.

The feature is only rolling out for iOS users as of now.

Users can check out soundmojis by heading to Messenger app > start a chat > Tap on the emoji they want to send. The next step is to select the loudspeaker icon from where users can preview and send their favourite soundmojis.

Last month, Facebook Messenger rolled out the Quick reply bar that enables users to instantly reply to a message. Messenger’s quick reply bar will make it easier for users to respond to media shared by friends and family without having to separately open the photo or video.

What does it to offer?

To send a reply to a photo or a video, users will have to tap on the photo or video and send a response through the quick reply bar at the bottom of the screen. To head back to the main chat thread, they can swipe up to exit the full-screen media viewer.
