What is the future of folding smartphones?

A lot has changed since the first inception of mobile smartphones in the early 2000s. Nowadays it is pretty easier to spot a folding smartphone whenever you walk into a mobile retailer in your location. Various brands have been steering this folding technology. Recently, we saw Samsung casting out its latest model, the galaxy fold 3, to the public. Today, this article examines if the folding smartphone is on the cusp of true democratization or it will remain a fad?

This is the first time that Samsung has come out with a high-end gadget with a significant price drop from the previous generation. In the galaxy unpacked 2021, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 were presented with a substantial price drop. The good thing is that only Samsung is working on the folding technology, but we have also seen brands such as  Huawei, Motorola, Royole, or Xiaomi.

Folding smartphones are produced for who and what are there purpose

Up until now, what appeared to control the reception of the folding phones, in any case, was the cost, with the proposed models in some cases displaying double the price of a high-end phone.

Presently, suppose the third versions of Samsung folding are still over the top expensive (€1,799 for the Z Fold 3 and € 1,059 for the Z Flip 3). In that case, the Korean producer plainly shows its expectation to make its scope of folding phones more available to everyone. Would a genuine drop in costs be sufficient to democratize these gadgets?

Cost aside, So what audience are these folding smartphones for? Except if one can find in it just another object of extravagance and comfort.
