This fall, Apple has novelties that the firm would want us to have a taste on. In less than a Cupertino firm will hold its traditional back to school keynote. Some of the products that will be launched might not surprise us. This article gives a brief overview of gadgets that we expect the firm to undertake this September.
Once again, the very well informed Mark Gurman, a journalist for Bloomberg, draws up the list of news tipped at Apple in the fall. During its keynote, usually reserved for iPhone and Apple Watch, the Cupertino giant is expected to unveil other products.
The iPhone 13 and its companion, the Apple Watch Series 7, not surprisingly
Let’s start with the obvious: Apple will launch new iPhones next month. Logically named iPhone 13, they should correspond to an ” S ” version with some improvements over current models without radically changing the formula with a new design. There would still be a smaller notch thanks to the miniaturization of the sensors necessary for FaceID and a faster A15 Bionic chip (but still engraved in 5 nm and not in 3 nm). Several concordant sources predict the arrival of 120 Hz screens on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, with a bonus video mode capable of simulating a background blur (equivalent to portrait mode).
The September keynote will also allow Apple to introduce at least one new Apple Watch: the Series 7. Mark Gurman believes that it could take advantage of a slight aesthetic redesign to sport flatter screens. The Apple smartwatch could also count on a technological update in display and should embed a faster processor. Apple also plans to present variations of the “Time to Walk” feature reserved for Apple Fitness + subscribers
AirPods 3, with a design close to AirPods Pro
At the same time, the apple brand is likely to take advantage of its next conference to present new ” classic “AirPods. They will replace the current AirPods 2 with a completely redesigned design “close to that of the AirPods Pro, including a new shape to be placed in the ear and shorter rods,” predicts Gurman. It would be, according to him, “the most important update of this part of Apple’s AirPods range since the first model launched in 2016”.
On the good side, these new entry-level AirPods still do not offer active noise reduction, but their unique design could help isolate the user from external noise better.
Two new iPads tipped: one small, one big
There would be new on the field of tablets, too, with the supposed presence of two new iPads: an iPad Mini 6 and an iPad 9. Both would replace the current models respectively launched in 2019 and 2020, but with a unique design. According to Mark Gurman, the iPad Mini 6 is destined “to become a favourite of Apple fans thanks to its thinner edges and complete redesign”. In it, we should find an Apple 15 Bionic chip (the same as on the iPhone 13), as well as a MagSafe magnetic charging connector and a USB-C port. Its design would be close to that used by the iPad Air 2020 but with a significantly more compact chassis.
The “classic” iPad 9 is, for its part, still quite mysterious, but it should also enjoy a thinner chassis (with a screen potentially rid of its ugly borders) and a faster processor. As a reminder, the current iPad 8 relies on an A12 Bionic chip (that of the iPhone Xs).
MacBook Pro M1X, finally?
As we know, Apple has two new MacBook Pro under its elbow. Initially expected on WWDC 2021, they seem to have been pushed back following worries about supply chains. However, we learned last week that their production would have (finally) begun. Enough to portend an imminent announcement, probably in September.
These new MacBook Pro (14 and 16 inches) would be powered by an Apple M1X chip, faster than the M1 SoCs of the MacBook Pro 13 and Air currently available. This new chip would finally replace Intel processors on the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
The MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inches that Apple is likely to show us next month will also benefit from a brand new design, flatter and rectilinear (inspired by the look of the iPhone 12), with more generous connectivity (supposed return of a MagSafe port, an HDMI output and an SD player). Finally, a Mini-LED display would be on the menu. The launch of these new models would take place in October.
