AfricArena to host North Africa regional conference in Tunis; 21-23 September 2021

AfricArena, in partnership with Expertise France through the project Innovi – EU4Innovation funded by the European Union, Smart Capital, and The Dot, are proud to announce the North Africa Summit, set to take place from 21 to 23 September 2021, in Tunis Tunisia. The two-day conference will feature pitches from 20+ startups operating in the region, as well as keynotes and panel discussions from the top minds in business, tech and investment in North Africa.

AfricArena.com is an African tech ecosystem accelerator. Through a series of events (both live and digital), AfricArena accelerates the growth of tech startups and the ecosystems in which they operate by providing a platform where they can share their business model, gain valuable networks and attain funding.

A series of regional events

This year, AfricArena will organise four hybrid events across four regions in Africa, all building up to the annual AfricArena Summit in Cape Town at the end of the year. The regional events will bring together startups, investors and corporations operating in the region with 20+ startups from the region being selected to pitch at the regional event. While bringing invaluable awareness and networking opportunities to the region’s ecosystem, the  events will also act as a semi-final pitch session, used to select startups to pitch at the Grand Summit in Cape Town in November 2021. 

North Africa Events

The North Africa Summit will take place in Tunis Tunisia from 21 to 23 September 2021. The two-day Summit will feature the 20+ startup pitches as well as keynote presentations and panel discussions from ecosystem thought leaders – speakers will be announced in the upcoming weeks. These series of events are supported by Expertise France through the project Innov’i – EU4Innovation funded by the European Union and are implemented in partnership with Smart Capital and The Dot

The day before the two-day Summit, pitching startups will also be invited to take part in a day-long bootcamp facilitated Expertise France through the project Innovi – EU4Innovation funded by the European Union, Smart Capital, and The Dot

Over the two days, the Summit expects over 20 startups to showcase their innovative solutions.The startups that will be pitching will mostly be pre-selected through a series of virtual pitch sessions that will take place in August (these digital events are free to attend, register here). 

Parallel to the Founders Bootcamp will be the much anticipated, invite-only North Africa Investor Unconference – where Africa-focused startup investors and VCs will take part in discussions and workshops centred around co-investing and how to ease the process in investing in tech startups on the continent. Between 20 to 30 investors are expected to attend. 

On the continent, North Africa is renowned by a dynamic ecosystem made up of a very active community of investors, a variety of funds dedicated to startups, and, in many cases, a legal framework conducive to entrepreneurship and innovation. The AfricArena North Africa Summit aims to bring together key players in order to strengthen this expanding ecosystem,” says AfricArena COO, Bintou Adekoya.

The North Africa AfricArena summit is an opportunity to promote the North African ecosystem by bringing together the major players in the Tech scene. Three days of exchanges, sharing and reflection, which will give startups the opportunity to present themselves to international VC funds, but also to forge links with regional entrepreneurs. By supporting the organization of the AfricArena regional summit, Expertise France through the Innov’i – EU4Innovation project, funded by the European Union, is helping to promote the integration of Tunisian startups into the African innovation ecosystem, ” says Expertise France.
