Windows 11 is now available for download. While Windows 11-powered hardware will be available worldwide on October 5th, Microsoft has made the OS update available to eligible devices in New Zealand and elsewhere ahead of schedule. If you recently purchased a Windows 10 machine, you should be able to upgrade to Windows 11 right now.
Windows 11 will be gradually rolled out to the rest of the world. According to Microsoft, existing Windows 10 devices that are eligible for the Windows 11 upgrade will begin to be able to upgrade today, but the majority of new hardware will receive the upgrade immediately. According to Microsoft, “We anticipate that all eligible individuals will participate.”
You can check to see if the Windows 11 upgrade is available in the Windows Update section of the Windows 10 settings area, or you may be able to bypass the queue and upgrade right away using Microsoft’s new Installation Assistant.
Windows 11 introduces a new user interface, a redesigned Start menu, an overhauled Microsoft Store, Widgets, Microsoft Teams integration, and many other new features. Our full review can be found here.
