The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro have just been on the market for two weeks, yet speculations regarding the iPhone 14 are already circulating. Whereas prior rumours suggested Apple will eventually do rid of the notch on its future models, Apple would have to temper its expectations.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Jon Prosser’s drawings of an iPhone 14 with a punch rather than a notch, which were revealed last month, would only apply to the most premium models in the lineup, as is most likely the case with the iPhone 14 Pro.
The notch is sure to remain.
The MacRumors story reporting on Kuo’s research drew a response from Jon Prosser himself on Twitter. He adds that the images he shared earlier this summer were for the iPhone 14 Pro Max and that the “basic” iPhone 14s will still have a notch at the top of the screen.
Other experts, on the other hand, are even more cautious. Apple is unlikely to eliminate the notch on future iPhones, according to Weibo leaker PandaIsBald, who has since removed his tweet. Instead, the maker would choose for a size decrease, like it did this year.
