How to Fix error 0x8007007f when installing Windows 11

Although the brand new version of Windows has been out for a few days, some users appear to be experiencing an issue. The problem “0x8007007f,” which occurs during the installation of Windows 11, may prohibit you from upgrading to the latest version of the operating system. Here’s what you should do if you’re affected.

Windows 11 has been publicly accessible for download in public form from October 5, 2021; there is no need to join the Insiders group to test the new Microsoft OS. You may upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 for free if your machine is suitable – which is not the case for everyone due to the restrictions imposed. In any event, to avoid installation issues, we recommend that you verify certain areas.

Unfortunately, even if your machine is entirely compatible with Windows 11, no one appears to be immune to installation issues. The problem “0x8007007f,” which seems to afflict certain users once the installation has reached 71 percent, is proof of this. However, there is a technique to install Windows 11 in any case.

According to initial comments from individuals affected, the issue might be triggered by a conflict of rights, storage space, or drivers. The entire situation is puzzling, as Windows is particularly evasive regarding the cause of the problem.

Two options for resolving the error “0x8007007f” have been presented.

The first option is a no-brainer. You’ll need administrator rights to access the Windows 11 installation wizard. This requires that you log in with the computer’s primary account, then right-click on the installation and select “Run as administrator.” Everything should be OK after that.

If this method does not work for you, there is still one option that should cure the problem for good: install Windows 11 straight from son.ISO. To refresh your memory, a “.iso” file is an “image” file (not to be confused with a photo, for example) that may be burned to a CD/DVD or put on a USB stick and used as a software installation disc.

But don’t worry, this time-consuming physical disk-based method isn’t required: all you have to do is download the file—open Windows 11 on your computer and double-click the “setup” file.exe. The installation will begin, and everything should go well for you: you must use the new version of Windows.
