Samsung maintains its position as the world leader in smartphone sales. Apple reclaims their colors and reclaims second position from Xiaomi, who had previously surpassed it.

Canalys, a research organization, has released data on smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2021. In comparison to the same period previous year, the industry sold 6% fewer gadgets. The primary cause is a scarcity of components, particularly chips, which is anticipated to persist until at least 2022.

Apple is a step ahead of Xiaomi

Apple, on the other hand, is still doing well. The Apple brand now has a 15% market share, up three percent from the third quarter of 2020. The rationale is because we’re counting the initial iPhone sales here, yet the iPhone 12 was released in the fourth quarter of last year, post the epidemic.
As a result, Apple is now the second-best seller of smartphones, ahead of Xiaomi, which had delighted him in this position both in the previous quarter and in Q3 of 2020. And with Q4 traditionally being a great quarter, that trend is expected to continue. In the latest quarter, Xiaomi had a 14 percent market share, which was unchanged from the previous year.

Samsung is still in charge

Samsung is in the same boat: no decline or growth from one year to the next, with a market share of 23%, putting it in the driver’s seat.
Behind this top trio, we find Vivo and OPPO, both with 10% market share, compared to 9% in Q3 2020. In recent years, both brands have enjoyed tremendous growth. Typically, some sort of sluggishness is observed.
It’s worth noting that Canalys now counts OnePlus sales alongside OPPO’s, indicating that the brand created by Pete Lau and Carl Pei has been completely absorbed.
