Google Pixel 6:Is it easy for Google to Keep up with the five years of security updates?

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have finally been unveiled after many speculations and leaks. For the first time, Google’s new flagships will utilize a custom processor(Tensor Soc), but that does not imply they will be given the same treatment as Apple smartphones in terms of software monitoring. When the smartphone was being presented yesterday, the manufacturer promised us five years of upgrades for the Pixel 6. That’s correct, but there’s a snag.

The Google Pixel 6 and the pro version of the smartphones from Google are now official. In addition to the capabilities provided by its Google Tensor processor, the Mountain View company has promised prospective customers of its new devices that they would not be tracked. The standard version of the two models will see up to 5 years of updates from October 28th. However, we still have to ask if what we expect and the outcomes will balance

The statement isn’t completely false, but it won’t all be big upgrades with new features, contrary to common perception. “Users will get at least three years of OS upgrades, after which we’ll make sure the Pixels 6 are safe and up to date,” a Google spokesman told The Verge. The frequency and kind of updates will be determined by the hardware’s capabilities and needs.”

In concrete terms, the new devices will get three years of Android upgrades until October 2024, with the last two years focusing only on security. To put it another way, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will work with Android 13, 14, and 15, but not with later versions of the operating system. Viruses, malware, and other dangers will be safeguarded against them until 2026.
