How to Use Photographic Styles in the Camera App on iPhone 13.

When Apple unveiled the new iPhone 13 series, it also unveiled several new camera features, including Photographic Styles for photos and Cinematic mode for video shooting. This article will explain what photographic styles are and how to use them.

Photographic Styles are a collection of subtle filter-like adjustments that you can enable before taking any photos, allowing you to add a stylistic effect to your shots without affecting the skin tone of your subjects. These styles are available in four different presets Vibrant, Rich Contrast, Warm, and Cool.

Rich Contrast adds a more dramatic look by darkening shadows and increasing color and contrast, while Vibrant captures the shot in bright, vivid, yet natural-looking colors. Warm tints subjects with a summery golden undertone, whereas cool tints subjects with blue undertones to achieve its signature cool look.

These styles are more intelligent than filters because they capture specific elements of the photo as it is being taken rather than applying changes in post-processing. Furthermore, Tone and Warmth are adjustable for each style, allowing you to achieve and maintain the exact look you desire throughout your photoshoot. Photographic Styles can also be applied to the front-facing camera, allowing you to dress up your selfies. Keep in mind, however, that a style cannot be removed from a photograph once it has been taken.

Here’s how to use Photographic Styles on all iPhone 13 models.

  • On your iPhone 13, open the Camera app.
  • If you haven’t used Photographic Styles before, or if you’ve previously selected Standard mode, swipe the horizontal menu below the viewfinder to select Photo mode, then swipe up from the bottom of the viewfinder and tap the Photographic Styles icon (it looks like three cards lined up in a row).
  • Swipe through the four presets (in addition to the Standard option) to see each one in action on the current scene in the viewfinder.
  • To customize the look, use the Tone and Warmth sliders located beneath the viewfinder.
  • When you’re finished, press the Shutter button.
  • When your style is active, the Photographic Style icon will appear in the upper-right corner of the Camera interface. You can change the style at any time by tapping it.

By default, the Photographic Style you choose will remain active until you change it or return to the Standard style the next time you launch the Camera app. Using the Settings app, you can also change which Photographic Style is active.

Tap Camera in Settings, then select Photographic Styles under “Photo Capture.”
