Tesla recalls almost 3000 Model 3 and Model Y cars

Tesla is recalling 2791 cars due to a suspension issue that could see the front left lateral link come loose. This could potentially shift the wheel alignment and increase the chances of a crash. The recall affects Model 3’s that were built between 2019 and 2021 and also Model Y built from 2020 to 2021. The company will fix the issue for free.

Tesla has already filed the recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and scheduled to mail affected owners on December 24th.

Recalls have happened several times from Tesla this year. In fact, this one is a much smaller one especially when you compare it to the February recall that saw 135,000 cars affected. The reason for the huge address was due to a touch screen issue. Apparently, Model 3 vehicles which had the Tegra 3 chip risked losing touch screen functionality if the 8GB storage wore out. With the screen not working properly, drivers would potentially not be able to control the rear camera view, defrost settings and more serious features such as turn signal lighting.

Model 3 was the center of both recalls and its understandable since it is fairly new car and hasn’t had enough time to iron out all the production kinks.
