Who will be the first to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 in their smartphone? The contest will be fought between Motorola and Xiaomi, according to many sources. Nubia, a smartphone manufacturer, is also in negotiations for a second or third-place finish.

Motorola is going to introduce a premium phone using the brand new Snapdragon 898, according to leaker Digital Station, who is typically well informed but has been proven incorrect in the past.

However, Digital Station claims that Xiaomi will deliver a smartphone with a high-end SoC before Motorola. Remember that Xiaomi’s Mi 11 was the first smartphone to include a Snapdragon 888 processor. Thus a Xiaomi 12 looks more than plausible. According to Li Ang Ang, another Weibo leaker, Nubia might be the second Chinese smartphone to have this new SoC.

Another leak, cited by Sparrowsnews, suggests that the Snapdragon 898 would have eight cores, the same as its predecessor. One mega core would be tuned at 3 GHz, three cores would be clocked at 2.5 GHz, and four additional cores at 1.79 GHz for more basic activities.
