develoPPP Ventures launches a second call for startup support programs with $100k grant for Kenyan entrepreneurs.

develoPPP Ventures is accepting applications for a grant of up to €100,000 from the second cohort of young innovative enterprises that are improving living conditions in a developing or emerging country and plan to scale up.

Startups with innovative business models that have a long-term economic, ecological, or social impact in a developing or emerging country are eligible to apply. Since the grant is aimed at growth investments, startups that apply should have proven their concept and are ready to scale.

The program is open to start-ups that have their headquarters or a branch in Kenya. develoPPP Ventures supports the scaling of impact-driven business models by providing a grant of up to 100,000 euros to companies that can secure matching funding of at least the same amount from other sources. In addition, for their growth journey, start-ups receive tailored support from technical experts. The second call for proposals is now open and will remain open until December 31, 2021.

DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH – launched the startup program on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development earlier this year. The program aims to provide entrepreneurial support as well as a grant of up to €100,000 for growth investments to startups.

develoPPP Ventures was first launched in Kenya, which already has a lively startup sector, and will be gradually expanded to include more countries. Impact investment specialist Seedstars and business incubator NaiLab are supporting the launch in Kenya, bringing years of experience in impact financing, access to a vibrant Kenyan ecosystem, and expertise in helping young companies thrive to the table.
