LG DualUp: say goodbye to 16:9 and welcome 16:18 Screens

LG has introduced its fresh new technical innovation, the 28MQ780 DualUp at its virtual CES event. This is a new monitor with a 28″ IPS display and an unannounced 16:18 format. To say the least, it’s an odd ratio, and it’s a long cry from the popular 16:9 standard.

As you may have guessed, this is a vertical monitor from LG, dubbed “Square Double”, since it can show the equivalent of two 21.5 ” displays stacked one on top of the other on the same screen.

On the resolution front, the LG signed screen allows for a definition of 2560 x 2880 pixels, i.e., a vertical assembly of two displays with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, with no visible boundary between them.

LG claims that this new model will aid in the reduction of lateral head motions, which may cause neck strain while switching between two displays. The dual display may also conserve space on a desktop with a unique Ergo stand.

In terms of technology, the LG panel here can reach 300 nits of brightness and has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, not to mention HDR10 capability. A USB-C connector and two HDMI connections are also included. It’s still unclear when and at what price LG’s incredible 28MQ780 DualUp display will be available.
