Ways you are using Facebook Messenger wrong without realizing it– texts are waiting in the hidden inbox.

Did you know that Facebook has a tricky inbox that’s easy to overlook – and that yours could be clogged with dozens of unread messages?

They come from people you don’t know on Facebook and are labeled as “message requests.”

For some reason, Mark Zuckerberg’s social media behemoth does not send you notifications when you receive them, and they do not appear in your default inbox.

Instead, they appear in a subfolder called “message requests.” It’s available in the Messenger app and on Facebook’s website.

Open the Messenger app on your smartphone and tap the profile picture icon in the top left corner of the screen.

Scroll down to Message requests and tap to view your unread messages.

Load Facebook into your browser on your desktop and click the Messenger icon. Select Message requests by clicking the three horizontal dots.

If you don’t know who sent you something, Facebook will show you some information about them to get you acquainted.

They won’t know if you’ve seen the message until you respond, so there’s no need to worry about appearing rude if you don’t respond.

But be careful: once you ping them a message, your accounts will be linked, allowing you to message each other as if you were Facebook friends.

That’s not the only useful Messenger hack we’ve got for you.

This quick iPhone trick is a must if you want to keep people from snooping on your private messages.

You’re probably already used to using Face ID to unlock your phone, but it can also be used to access specific apps.

Many people already use this for things like banking apps and even WhatsApp. Facebook Messenger is no different.

To lock your chats, launch the Messenger app and tap your profile photo in the upper left corner.

Then, select the privacy tab. You’ll then see an app lock option. Simply toggle the required Face ID toggle to on.
