While Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome have added support for some UI elements to match the design of the Windows 11 operating system, Mozilla Firefox is also jumping on board. It is now preparing to add a Windows 11-style scrollbar to replace the old scrollbar.
The overlay scrollbar feature will be available in Firefox beginning with version 97, and it is currently available for those using the nightly build. It can switch between minimal and full modes based on the position of the pointer.
Step-by-step guide on how to enable the overall scrollbar in Firefox;
- On your computer, launch the Mozilla Firefox web browser.
- When the browser loads, type “about:config” into the address bar and hit enter.
- Now, in the search box, type “widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.style.”
- Change the default value from 0 to 5 by clicking the edit button (pencil icon).
- After that, click the checkmark, and Firefox will immediately change the scrollbars’ design.
