Ngerian digital onboarding startup Dojah joins Y Combinator W22 Cohort.

Dojah is the latest in a line of Nigerian startups to be accepted into the renowned YCombinator accelerator in Silicon Valley.

The Lagos-based startup, led by Tobi Ololade and Ayomide Oso, aims to deliver an unified KYC and digital onboarding solution for organizations aiming to scale across Africa.

Due to the fragmented regulatory and technological landscape, scaling across Africa remains a difficult undertaking for startups and companies trying to expand across the continent.

Obtaining valid identification and financial data frequently necessitates integrating with many service providers, which is time-consuming and difficult.

Dojah aims to address this issue by aggregating and standardizing digital onboarding and KYC APIs across the continent, resulting in a single point of entry for firms wishing to expand across borders.

Tobi and Ayomide, co-founders of Dojah, previously worked at Elta Solutions, a dev shop that serviced to software companies.

Tobi was also the CTO of Tradebuza, an agricultural finance data and API infrastructure. During Dojah’s stay at Elta Solutions, the team discovered the problem that he would later tackle.

Dojah wants to create a one-stop shop for onboarding users (both people and businesses) across Africa.

The startup has already achieved new milestones by integrating onboarding and KYC endpoints for 5 African countries — Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda — just before being accepted for the YC 2022 batch. Over 500 firms have been onboarded, and over 2 million API calls have been processed.

Getting into YCombinator has become recognized as a launchpad for African startups in recent years, as well as a symbol of validation that the startup is worth watching.

Dojah’s team is already experiencing the benefits of having the Silicon Valley accelerator’s stamp of approval.

Dojah has a few other objectives in mind as it prepares for the YC Demo Day in a few weeks. The startup plans to expand its reach to more countries in the near future.

It also intends to expand the distribution of its no-code solutions across the continent to help non-developers with scalable businesses in building out their onboarding and KYC flows.
