Safaricom has teamed up with the KCB Foundation, Naivas, Ernst & Young, Royal Media Services, Nation Media Group, Media Max, The Standard Group, Radio Africa Group, the M-Pesa Foundation, and the Safaricom Foundation to distribute relief food to 23 Arid and Semi-Arid (ASAL) counties in Kenya.

The Pamoja Tuungane Initiative, run by the partnership, invites the public to participate and donate money or Bonga points to help achieve the aim.

Here’s how you may donate, either in cash or in Bonga points.

To make a donation using Bonga Points;

  • You can donate your Bonga Points by dialing *126# and selecting “Bonga for Food.”
  • You will then have the choice of entering any amount of Bonga points or the specified amount of Bonga points.
  • After you’ve made your selection, you’ll be prompted to enter your Service PIN to complete the transaction.

Use PayBill 444777 for cash donations, regardless of your network.

You may also get cheap Food Hampers from Naivas Supermarket.

Pamoja Tuungane will also collaborate with the State Department of Social Protection to guarantee that all donations are put to good use. Aside from the 20,000 families living in 23 Arid and Semi-Arid counties that would benefit from the fund, more counties will be involved as time goes on.
