Lenovo Lead, As PC global Shipments Fall.

Lenovo has managed to hold onto its lead in the global PC market, commanding a 23.1 percent share in the first quarter of the year.

According to Counterpoint Research’s Global PC Tracker, global PC shipments fell 4.3 percent year over year in the third quarter, to 78.7 million units.

Total shipments for Lenovo fell 9.5 percent to 18.2 million units. During the epidemic, the company’s in-house manufacturing was mostly to blame for its lead levels.

Despite a 16 percent year-over-year fall in shipments, HP is the second best-seller, with a 20.2 percent share, which Counterpoint attributes to Chromebook losing momentum and customer demand weakness.

Dell slightly increased its shipments for the quarter, capturing a bonus of 1 percent market share.

PC shipments will continue to fall and will likely plateau later this year.

According to Counterpoint, “order backlog from 2021 continued to contribute heavily to PC shipments at the beginning of 2022.” “This supports our previous view of another PC shipment plateau in 2022.
