Drive to Survive” a docuseries about the Formula 1 and its drivers has been running since 2019 on Netflix. The streaming company announced it will renew it for two more seasons.

The show is currently filming season 5, and now season 6 has been confirmed. The series has continued to grow in popularity, with season four attracting the biggest audience to date and breaking into the weekly Top 10 in 56 countries, according to an F1 press release.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said in March that “Drive to Survive” must add value to F1 to continue . For now, the television series seems to be meeting that requirement well enough for a longer-term commitment by F1.”

The popularity of Season 4 was contributed by drama of a championship battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen that came down to the final laps of the final race, and saw Verstappen take the championship in a controversial fashion.

Popularity of the docuseries has been seen as a large factor in growing the popularity of Formula 1 in the United States, a market it has been trying to enter for the longest time. The country had a huge response at the U.S. Grand Prix at the Austin, Texas Circuit Of The Americas (COTA) where it attracted a massive crowd of around 400,000 for the race weekend in 2021. The great reception has continued for the Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix and the new Saturday night street race in Las Vegas for the 2023 schedule.
