ASUS introduces the ROG Flow X16, a lightweight and triple-ventilated gaming laptop, and the Scar 17 SE, a powerful gaming laptop

ASUS is unveiling two new gaming laptops under the ROG banner on the heels of the less saturated market in this particular segment. From the announcement, we have two particular models: ultra-thin, light, and reversible, while the second is a beast that Intel and NVIDIA have overpowered.

Let us get started

The ROG Flow X16 is one of the thinnest gaming laptops in its class, with a total thickness of just 19.4mm. This does not preclude it from investing in high-performance components and depending on AMD and NVIDIA’s low-power solutions. An AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti are the best options for the device. On the RAM front, ASUS promises up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM @ 4,800 MHz and up to two RAID-compatible SSDs.There is an additional ROG XG Mobile GPU for even more graphic capability.

In addition, the Flow X16 takes advantage of the 16-inch MiniLED, QHD, and HDR touch screen in 16/10 format. According to ASUS, the latter has a maximum brightness of 1,100 nits and a reaction time of 3 milliseconds. Finally, the X16 has a lot of connectors, including a ROG XG Mobile port, a USB-C 4.0 jack, two USB-A 3.2 ports, an HDMI 2.1 output, a micro SD reader, and a headphone jack. The battery, however, has a large capacity of 90 Wh. Where do we stand? The ROG Flow X16  starts at 3199 euros.

For the Second model, things get a little hotter. The Strix Scar 17 SE builds on the Scar 17 2022 seen during CES 2021. For its mechanics, the Strix Scar 17 SE is built upon a Full HD IPS 360 Hz panel that boosts  240 Hz. It still maintains the same chassis and keyboard as the “non SE” variant, but it now includes RGB lighting that extends to patterns on the hood’s bottom left corner.

Under the have the latest 12th generation Intel Core i9 “HX” CPUs (Alder Lake). On their 16 cores and 24 threads, clocked at 5.2 GHz in boost, the latter may mount up to 65 W of TDP to create maximum power. The CPU is paired with up to 64 GB of DDR5 memory running at 4,800 MHz and an RTX 3080 Ti graphics card with a maximum TGP of 175 W. From 3399 euros in the third quarter of 2022, you will be able to purchase this gadget
